Songs, shows, movies and books that have made my year (2018)

My last blog of 2018. I am so glad that I started this, it is making me very happy writing these posts, which I honestly don't sugarcoat at all because if I didn't, it wouldn't be me. I thought this last post should be a fun one, well fun for me anyways. I am going to be sharing my favourite albums, songs, movies and shows of 2018! I thought that this would just be a good way to end the year, a summary of everything that I've enjoyed me to share and for you guys to check out (if you want).

Favourite Albums & Songs of 2018
Personally, I think that this year has been a pretty good year for music and some of these are going to be new ones as well as old ones. I have enjoyed a mixture of things this year, ranging from French music to Tamil. I guess that's the best part of being trilingual, having a never ending choice of music to choose from. Here are some of my favourites (in no particular order) from this year:

Favourite Movies & Shows of 2018
Here's the thing, I'm not really one to watch shows or even movies. I only do it to procrastinate, otherwise I don't really watch anything. I really only listen to music and read books so this list is going to be quite short and it's going to be in no particular order.

There are lot more movies, because I watch movies more than I watch shows but I can't really think of them at the top of my head and these are the ones that come to mind. Many of these movies are very typical but honestly what can I say, they're gold either way.


Books of 2018
Like I had mentioned in my previous post, books are my everything. I love reading, it's nice to get away every now and then. I could re-read these books that I'm about to list about 5000000 times. I can never get bored and I love them so much which means that this list might be long but I will try and not make it too long.

5. More Than This - Patrick Ness (the book that made me fall in love with reading 3/4 years ago)

7. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (one of my absolute favourites)

9. The Dead Zone - Stephen King (he really is a king in my opinion)
10. The Hate U Give - Angie Thomas (a must read, absolutely beautifully written)

  It's mid October, and it genuinely feels surreal that there's only 3 months left until the end of the year. book recommendations - part 1 (fantasy, lit fic, classics)

You all probably know by now that I love reading and love to talk about books. But one of my favourite things to do is recommending books to other people. I've been meaning to write a blog recommending books for people who would like to get into reading, read more or are in a reading slump and just don't know what to pick up next. Please bare in mind, that I only read fiction. I haven't read enough non fiction books to be able to recommend some to people, maybe in a few years time if I ever get into them! I  honestly wasn't sure how to curate this list, so I spent some time going through Goodreads and looking at the books that I've read in the last few years trying to see which books would cater to people. Fantasy Fantasy is my favourite genre and the one I constantly pick up. I'm pretty sure majority of the books I've read in my lifetime (which is not that long) is fantasy. "dream within a dream"

                                                            "...But a dream within a dream?" I recently re-read a poem by Edgar Allan Poe called 'A Dream Within a Dream' and it got me thinking (again - no surprise there, haha) about the last two years and how everything has changed. How the norm of our every day lives have changed and how the old 'normal' seems so foreign and far away as it was never reality. Do you ever just sit and question whether this is what life is nowadays? Because, yeah me too. The poem by Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favourite poems ever and one that I often go back to because of how much the words bring comfort to me and in a way also motivates me, especially when I feel lost or confused.
