What is being Tamil like?
Anyone who knows me will know that when it comes to anything that has to do with being Tamil, I really won't shut up. Whether its about an amazing Tamil movie that I had just watched on Einthusan, some song that I have recently become obsessed with or even just to complain about how uncomfortable sarees are, I just don't stop talking. There are moments where I'm just sat there thinking 'Wow, I really am the biggest fresh pot ever' but then its just like, you know what, I am allowed to appreciate my culture every now and then and I am proud to be Tamil so I can share my love for it whenever I want and that's what I'm going to be doing in this blog post. I am going to be telling you guys all the amazing things that I get from being Tamil and allow you to get a brief insight as to what being Tamil is like.
Songs
Kuthu songs are the best songs to ever exist on this planet. It's one of those things that once you listen to, you can't stop. You'll end up listening to hours of them without realising it and it just puts you in a good mood.
If you've never heard any Kuththu songs, just take a few minutes out of your day to listen to some of the classics, that would be played at practically every single party without a doubt, these songs are basically our version of 'Mr Brightside' or 'Dancing Queen'. If you're Tamil, I hope you're ready to bring out your best kuththu dance moves. Here are (in my opinion) the top 5 Kuththu songs
Song Number 1 : Manmadha Raasa
Song Number 2 : Mukala Mukabula
Song Number 3 : Naaku Mukka
Song Number 4 : Udhungada Sangu
Song Number 5 : All Thotta Boophathi
Honestly, these are not even half of them, nowhere close but these are my personal favourites. The temptation to add more is real but I won't just because I could be here all day to be honest. But if you want your ears to be blessed or even want some motivation, I'll just link my Spotify playlist below so you can enjoy some more tunes (casual plug).
Food
Okay, if you've never tried mutton rolls have you even lived? They are literally the best invention on this planet and I am grateful such a beautiful, delicious things exist (if you disagree, you're cancelled).

My reaction when I see mutton rolls. |
Also the curries that our Amma or Appa make, holy poop. Now, I am a Tamil that can't really handle spice (shock) but honestly, sometimes I am willing to make sacrifices to have that peng mutton curry that my parents have made for dinner, even if it does mean I'm going to have to sit in the toilet suffering for 30 mins. As if Fridays weren't already exciting enough because it basically means that its the weekend, when you come home and smell that wonderful paneer it honestly just makes your day. You can never go wrong with paneer and parota rotti. Tamil short eats are amazing, best believe that whilst I may not enjoy the main food unless its kotthu rotti, I will devour 3 plates of short eats, as long as it consists of, mutton rolls, samosas, murukku, cake and mixer. You can never go wrong with too many small bags of mixer. I can go on and on about how wonderful our short eats and our food is but that will probably be in another blog post because the world deserves to know how great Tamil food is.
Tamil Parents/Aunts&Uncles
Truth to be told, Tamil parents and even Tamil uncles and aunts are probably the funniest people you'd ever met. Whether it's because they are just a sight to watch on the dance floor or because sometimes their logic in certain situation makes zero sense that it's hilarious. Over-all though, it is a blessing in disguise to be surrounded by such entertaining but yet loving people. They love more than you could ever imagine and it is a love that I can never be able to explain in words.
Every Tamil teen would have experienced this at some point in their life, anytime they have gone to visit a family wearing ripped jeans. You enter the household and holy mother of cows a roasting session will commence, comments such as 'couldn't you afford jeans with no rips' or 'you look like a homeless person' would be thrown from every corner of the room. You don't even get offended, you don't even argue back (unless you want to get a shoe thrown at you or you want the wooden spoon to be magically whipped out).
Drunk Tamil uncles on the dance floor, is an amazing sight to witness. Their acting skills to the songs that would play could literally be Oscar worthy. Could give Vadivelu a run for his money because its honestly the funniest thing ever. Well, its funny until your dad starts to bust out some moves and my sisters and I look away pretending that we don't know the man in the middle of the dance floor dancing as if there's no tomorrow with his fellow brothers in law and friends.

To sum it all up since you're all probably bored now but if you've gotten to the end, THANK YOU!!
I wanted this post to be a bit more light-hearted and just a brief insight of what being Tamil is like. There's so much more to say and share but I'll share more in another post.
But for now, I'm out!

P.S : I'm not very satisfied with this blog but I still wanted to share. Wanted to make the third blog a bit less serious because I don't want my blog to constantly be serious, I do want it to also contain some fun stuff!
P.S.S : Please let me know how I can improve!!!! And if you have any topic suggestions, I'd also really appreciate it :-)
